Main Events Strengthens Stable with Co-Promotional Signing of Pro Debut Super Welterweight "S
Totowa, NJ: Main Events has joined forces with Zagarino Promotions in a co-promotional deal for super welterweight prospect "Sugar" LeShawn Rodriguez. Rodriguez had an impressive amateur career and is set to make his professional debut March 18 against Jose Cortes at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As an amateur, LeShawn was two-time a USA Boxing National Champion in 2013 and 2014 of the Men's Elite Division, which does not use headgear. He was the 2012 NY Golden Gloves Open Middleweight Champion and 2014 NY Golden Gloves Open Middleweight Champion. He was a 2012 National Golden Gloves Finalist. In 2013, Sugar took home the Bronze Medal at the AIBA World American Continental Championships. He was also chosen as an alternate for the 2016 Olympic Team.
The 22-year old Rodriguez is originally from Coram, New York and now resides in Fort Jefferson Station, New York. Branding my boxing name with 'Sugar' and its historic past is a symbol of our commitment and confidence."
