About Kathy
A veteran of over 40 years in the business, Kathy Duva was introduced to the sport by her late husband, promoter Dan Duva. After earning a BA in English from Montclair State University, she began her career as a reporter and editor before covering women’s sports for the New Jersey Edition of the New York Daily News. She later worked as Assistant Director of College Relations at William Paterson University while also serving as Director of Public Relations for Main Events, her husband’s boxing promotion company, before joining full time in 1981.
Upon Dan’s passing in 1996, Kathy assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Main Events, where she remains today. During her time with Main Events, Kathy promoted legendary fighters like Evander Holyfield, Arturo Gatti, Mark Breland, Kermit Cintron, Lennox Lewis, and Pernell Whitaker, many of whom challenged for world titles, achieving great success.
In 2001 she graduated with Honors from Seton Hall Law School where she currently sits on the Board of Visitors. Kathy was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020. Kathy’s three children with Dan are Nicole, Lisa, and Bryan. Her role in raising them is the proudest accomplishment of Kathy’s life.
